Grocery store, A & I Variety Meats and Produce, is now open on the far east side of Indy at 8393 E. 38th St. Placed in the heart of a food desert, the locally owned business is determined to make accessing food easier for the community.
Couple Robert and Sonya Hearst started the store from scratch, renovating an old dentist’s office into a space for fresh food. Now, local vendors are actively providing shipments of fruits, vegetables, and meats. “We want the focus to be on healthy foods,” Robert explains as the shelves are being stocked. There is no doubt that the store already represents his vision, and the best is yet to come.
Taking action on this subject steers for a wholesome impact on the community, and we are eager to watch it flourish. Stop on in, purchase nourishing foods, and learn about the mission. “We’re now open and serving the community,” Sonya says with a smile.
