Cucumber Water: Benefits and How to Make It

I recently started adding cucumber water into my beauty routine. I can honestly say that I’ve never felt this refreshed and looked more vibrant! I’m not a huge fan of cucumbers, but infusing them into water is a different story. 

Cucumbers have been used as a beauty product for many years. They are believed to be originated in the Indian subcontinent, and are the oldest cultivated crop. They have been used to cure under eye dark marks, and many spas use them during facials. 

You’re probably wondering how to make cucumber water, and how vegetables like cucumbers can be so beneficial for the skin and your overall body. I’ll first start off by telling you what the benefits of drinking cucumber water are:

It Helps To Fight Acne

Cucumbers help to ward off stubborn acne, because they are high in pantothenic acid or vitamin B-5. These two substances are used to treat acne problems. According to Healthline, one cup of sliced cucumbers has about 5 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin B-5. 

 

It Keeps You Hydrated

The body needs hydration in order to flush out any bad toxins in your body. That means you should be drinking water. If you find it too challenging or boring to stay committed to drinking plain water then try adding some cucumbers for flavor. Not only will the cucumbers make your water tasty, but it will motivate you to keep drinking! Thus, keeping you hydrated. 

 

Helps To Keep Weight Down

Cucumbers can be a substitute for those sugary drinks people often get hooked to. If we’re not consuming loads of sugar everyday then we are aiding to weight loss, and an overall healthier lifestyle. Cucumbers are said to be the vegetable with the least calories, but has enough nutrients to keep you satisfied.

It’s Cancer Fighting

A study published in Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases in 2010, found that cucumbers are rich in three disease fighting lignans: pinoresinol, lariciresinol, and secoisolariciresinol. All have been proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. 

Cucumber water is so healthy for you. It’s a great way to stay replenished all year round. To make cucumber water all you’ll need is: 8 cups of water, 2 cucumbers (thinly sliced,) and a cute container!

  1. Add your cucumbers to a jar or pitcher
  2. Pour water over cucumbers
  3. Stir your ingredients, and cover
  4. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight to infuse flavor
  5. Water is good for at least 3 days after that. Keep it refrigerated.
