Happy Friday, and welcome the first weekend of October. We can’t believe it still feels like summer outside! It’s the perfect reason to get outside and get moving. Here are 8 healthy things to do in Indianapolis this weekend to enjoy with your friends and family. 


Saturday, October 5


500 Festival Mini-Mini Kids’ Run

The 500 Festival mini-mini is the only kids run to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500! The mini-mini is a timed fun run that’s just for kids ages 5 – 12. Kids will have an over-the-top experience similar to the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, including live entertainment acts along the course, massive cheering sections, iconic photo opportunities, and a chocolate milk toast after crossing the finish line. Xtreme Hip Hop Cardio 

Xtreme Hip Hop is a 60-minute high energy cardio class combining steps boards and hip hop music to give you an intense burn! If you haven’t experienced Xtreme Fitness with Phil before, you are in for an amazing treat!  For more information, visit here.


Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben

Indianapolis loves running events. Sign up for the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben on Saturday, October 5.  Taking place in historic Fort Harrison State Park, while running/walking through a gorgeous fall tour through the park and surrounding neighborhoods. For more information, visit here


Yoga with Adoptable Puppies at the Irsay YMCA

Come snuggle an adoptable puppy while practicing yoga in the gym of the beautiful Irsay Family YMCA. Enjoy 45 minutes of beginners Vinyasa Flow Yoga with the adorable puppies of Helping Paws Indy; a local foster-based rescue group. The yoga session includes a selfie with adoptable puppies and donuts. Brunch Run Indy

Sunday’s are meant for brunch, but what if you burn a few calories first? You’re in luck! Grab your girls and sneakers and run the Fall Brunch Run Indy 5K!  Enjoy a post-race brunch at the Rathskeller with a complimentary mimosa or beer for each participant. Must be 21 or older. Sunday Yoga with Sivananda

Wild Persimmon brings traditional Sivananda yoga to the Hoosier Heartland in a 90-minute practice that allows equal time and space for relaxation, breathing, exercise, and meditation.
