Home » 2020 Indy VegFest is Canceled
The COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus, has the entire country in a panic. The Governor of Indiana recently announced that all events with more than 250 people should be canceled. And with that news, many events are canceling all over the city. The Indy VegFest announced via its website the cancelation of the 2020 festival due to concerns of the COVID-19.
The Indy VegFest was founded in 2016, and is a free, vegan festival for everyone–one that consolidates, educates, and celebrates components of a vegan lifestyle. The Fest is the largest annual event of its kind in Indianapolis and this year, they moved to the BankersLife Fieldhouse.
The below statement was shared on their website:
Dear Indy VegFest fans and supporters,
We made the difficult call last night to cancel the 2020 Indy VegFest. We have been paying close attention to the concerning developments around COVID-19, and this is not a decision we entered into lightly. We were optimistic that the news would turn around, but based on guidance from trusted sources including the CDC and Indiana State Department of Health, we cannot in good conscience continue planning to hold a large public event in just over two weeks from now.
All Early Access ticket holders will receive a full refund. Please be patient with us as we process these, as Eventbrite does not have a function to issue bulk refunds. We will be processing hundreds of refunds one-by-one.
While we understand the enormity of the situation and importance of protecting the public’s health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to point out that this decision was also particularly difficult due to the impact on small businesses that rely on large events like ours to make a living and pay their employees. Could you all – everyone reading this message – please do us a favor? Go to the 2020 vendor list on our website. Click on the social media links, and follow their accounts. Please support local businesses. For businesses that have an online presence, please patronize them through that platform.
Thank you to all of our vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters. We were excited to bring you the biggest and best Indy VegFest to date this year, with our move to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. While it won’t be possible this year, please stay tuned for what we have in store next.
Thank you for your support,
The Indy VegFest Executive Board
