Be Well Indy is here to provide you with several healthy happenings to enjoy this weekend, whether you feel more comfortable staying home or are interested in venturing out (while following the guidelines and maintaining proper social distancing, of course!). Love Your Neighbor Virtual 5k

Beginning today, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Indianapolis Council is hosting a 5k Run/Walk all the way through June 12, to support the urgent needs of Indianapolis community members that may be struggling during the pandemic. All while practicing safe social distancing, St. Vincent de Paul encourages you to get outside and move, knowing that all proceeds will go directly to their food pantry and other important programs during this time. There will be 4 race courses conveniently spaced across Indy to make it easy for runners and walkers on any side of town. Now is the perfect time to get outside, break a sweat, and do your part to support your neighbors!

DropSound Outdoor Meditation 

Urban Mediation is hosting this free outdoor mediation event in celebration of its reopening and the start of summer. Meditation has numerous benefits, including general wellbeing, decreased stress levels, improved mood, relief from mental health disorders, and better focus. Join mediation leader Kristy Paul for this 30-minute practice from 11-11:30 AM on 8487 Union Chapel Road across from Fashion Mall Commons. Don’t forget your mat!

Yoga at the Keystone-Monon Community Garden

De-stress and get active than this outdoor yoga flow hosted by the Keystone-Monon Community Garden Association. This class takes place from 3-4 PM and is the first of the season! Get out and enjoy the serene atmosphere that your local nature spaces have to offer while you stretch and strengthen your muscles. And don’t forget to donate! The proceeds fund the garden at Arsenal Park while helping to allow the association to continue to sponsor community events and normalize urban agriculture. Please maintain social distancing, but feel free to bring your kids (as well as a mat and water bottle)!

Downward Dog and Little Hogs

Ever taken a yoga class with an animal before? Join Metazoa (and a bunch of adorable, adoptable little piglets) for pig yoga from 10-10:45 AM! Stop by if you are looking to get active while supporting a good cause. Tickets are $35, and $5 per ticket will go straight to the Oinking Acres, one of the only organizations in Central Indiana committed to rescuing pigs. We must admit, taking selfies with and cuddling a bunch of little piggies is also pretty cool! All level yogis are welcome, although you must be 21 to take the class. Namaste and Oink Oink!

Virtual Pilates Mat Class

Era Pilates is hosting this virtual pilates mat workout class to help you get moving while promoting good social distancing habits. Don’t be fooled…Though you are in the comfort of your home, you are sure to break a sweat! Some of the many benefits of Pilates include improved flexibility, increased muscular strength, and tone, particularly in the ‘core’ region of the body. Pay $10 for a drop-in class (or sign up for their $49/month membership!) and tune in from 10-11 AM through Zoom.
