Health and Fitness Studios Are Starting to Re-Open, and Your Safety is Their Top Priority

After these past few months of streaming workouts on YouTube and searching new yoga poses on Pinterest, it’s no surprise that people are itching to get their sweat on somewhere besides their own living rooms. Luckily, some Indianapolis studios are beginning the process of re-opening and sparing no safety expense to do so. Here is a list of five studios around the Indy area that are currently offering in-person classes, and the guidelines they have in place to get you working hard while keeping you healthy as can be. 

*Note: As guidelines change, so will the protocols of your favorite businesses. Be sure to double-check with your studio, as new information regarding COVID-19 is released on the regular!

Studio: Solid Core 

Where: Locations in Broad Ripple, Downtown Indy, Carmel, and Fishers

Classes Offered: Online and in studio

How they’re keeping you safe, and how you can help: 

  • Solid Core is working hard to keep participants the safe distance of six feet apart and will be altering the placement of their exercise machines to do so. 
  • Arrive no earlier than ten minutes before a class to limit the amount of time crowding in a common area.
  • Come fully dressed for class and use the bathroom at home before entering the studio. 
  • Upon arriving at the studio, you will be required to wash your hands. (Soap and sanitizer will be provided). 
  • Any client showing visible signs of illness (i.e., runny nose, persistent sneezing, and cough, etc.) will be asked not to take a class that day, and their class credit will go back on their account.
  • Clients are asked not to use lockers and to instead bring a duffle or bag to store any items that you bring into the studio in the pit of your machine. 
  • All coaches will be wearing masks and gloves.
  • At the end of class, coaches will be placing wipes on your machine for you to use.

 

Studio: Fountain Square Yoga 

Where: Indianapolis, IN

Opening Status: Already open! 

Classes Offered: Online and in studio

How they’re keeping you safe, and how you can help: 

  • Classes will be limited in size to six in the hot room, and seven in the large. 
  • Classes will only be held a couple of times per day. 
  • Classes will be first come first serve and MUST be registered online. (No walk-ins will be accepted)
  • Props will be available for sale if you are uncomfortable using the ones provided in the studio. 
  • Props and studio surfaces will be cleaned after each use and will require a blanket to be placed over bolsters. 
  • Bring your own water and mat with you! 
  • If you are experiencing any symptoms or feeling sick in any way, please stay home. 

 

Studio: Hotworx

Where: Locations in Fishers, IN and Carmel, IN (There are Hotworx studios located in Downtown Indy that is working to open as soon as possible!)

Opening Status: Already open!  

Classes Offered: In studio

How they’re keeping you safe, and how you can help: 

  • Members showing any signs of the coronavirus are not permitted to enter the studio.
  • Wearing masks in the studio is encouraged if members are physically able. 
  • Members must have scheduled appointment times, and may not enter the studio until that time.
  • At this time, appointments are limited to single occupancy. 
  • Once a session is complete, members must clean the surfaces they have come into contact with and exit the studio quickly. 
  • Cleaning supplies, as well as sanitizer and soap, will be available on site. 
  • Members are asked to practice social distancing at all times while in the studio. 
  • Any member found disregarding these guidelines will be asked to leave the studio, and their membership will be revoked. 

 

Studio: Dance Works Indy

Where: Indianapolis, IN

Opening Status: June 2, 2020

Classes Offered: Online and in studio

How they’re keeping you safe, and how you can help: 

  • Touchless hand sanitizer dispensers will be available at the entrance to the building and in each studio.
  • Hand washing and sanitizing will be required before and after each class for both clients and staff.
  • Desk staff will be required to wear masks for the duration of their shifts, and have access to gloves and other PPE.
  • Significantly reduced class sizes will allow for more than 6 ft of the distance between dancers.
  • Increased time between classes AND staggered class times will allow for increased cleaning and to reduce the number of people in the building/lobby/studios at any one time. 
  • Staff is undergoing extensive training to ensure proper understanding and execution of all new procedures before opening.
  • NO hands-on corrections or feedback.
  • Refrain from hugs, high fives, etc. to keep good social distancing practices.
  • Please arrive no more than 10 min before your class.
  • Masks MUST be worn by all clients and employees when in the lobby, hallway, bathrooms, or entering/exiting the building. 
  • You must bring your own mat for any yoga/PBT classes.

 

Studio: Peace Through Yoga

Where: Locations in Speedway, and Danville, IN

Opening Status: Already open! 

Classes offered: Online and in studio

How they’re keeping you safe, and how you can help: 

  • All classes require registration in advance.
  • Class sizes are limited to accommodate the CDC guideline of 6 feet. 
  • No walk-ins will be allowed. 
  • If you are not feeling well, please stay home. 
  • Masks must be worn at all times in the building except for during class. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available on site. 
  • Clients will be asked to wait before entering the studio. 
  • You are recommended to bring your own pen for signing in.
